New Years Day 2023

A fun time was had on our 2023 New Years Day ride.  We had 7 bikes show up and one pick-up truck making a total of 11 Chapter members.  The main meeting location in El Dorado Hills is not far away from our lunch destination which was Don Luis Mexican in Ione. This location is always a hit with the food and is a beautiful ride through the green foothills on some really fun motorcycle roads but is not so far as to make it an all-day affair.

Blue Knights Honored

This month"s meeting was held in Colfax where the air quality was a little better then most places we have met in the past.  During the meeting, our President and Vice President, representing the Board, presented Travis and MaryAnn with an award for an outstanding Christmas party they hosted in 2019.  In addition, the Board wanted to honor a long time member for the many years of service he has unselfishly given to the club.   Merle has held several Board positions and has been a leader of  promoting our club through the years.  Thank you to all for supporting our club and keeping the camaraderie alive.

July 2020 After Meeting Ride

An enjoyable half-day ride led by "Fireman Bill" taking beautiful scenic back roads to Placerville where the group sat down for a delicious lunch at Sourdough & Co restaurant.

Annual Sweetheart Ride 2020

Our annual Valentine Sweetheart Ride was held at The Point Resturant in Rio Vista, CA on February 16th.  A beautiful sunny day for a ride made the event even more enjoyable.  After a short time of "mingling" our members and their sweethearts took pleasure in a delicious meal.  One of the highlights during the event was honoring Travis and his sweetheart, Mary Ann, for organizing our Annual Christmas Event.  As usual, Tony and Judi did an outstanding job of organizing and leading our membership & sweethearts to a wonderful time.  Thank you both.

Annual Arizona Ride 2020

Blue Knights experience a nine day adventure ride!  Their adventure first took them to Solvang where they saw the Solvang Ventage Mortorcycle Museum.  The caretaker is extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer every question.  Then onto the Reagan Presidential Library where they enjoyed this huge property full of antiquities and President Reagan’s time in the White House including Air Force One.   Another highlight was the Dwarf Cars Museum in Maricopa, AZ.  Lots to see and imagine how everything was built.  One other special location visited was the Biosphere II in Oracle, AZ.  Truly a spectacular sight.

4th Annual New Years Day Ride 2020

A great day in the sun is always enjoyable.  Today, nine of us, including two friends of Tony and Judy’s, enjoyed a cool but very pleasant ride on a mostly sunny day.  Marc Fichou led us on a great ride through some circuitous roads.

Nevada County Toy Run 2019

Nevada City Toy Run 2019

The Nevada County Food & Toy Run happens annually on the 2nd Saturday in December.   At this annual Christmas event participants are able to meet and greet Santa, kids, families and friends.  Toys and food are gathered and vendors sell their wares.  It is truly a fextive atmosphere with chestnuts roasting over an open fire.  BKCA1 members ride decorative iron steeds and donate gifts and can goods every year.

Blue Knights CA1 Christmas 2019

This year, the annual Blue Knights Christmas celebration took place at the Lake Natoma Inn in charming Historic Folsom.  Members, family and friends who attended this event admired the elegantly decorated banquet room and enjoyed the excellent hors d'oeuvres, champaign and the featured main courses served by the friendly Lake Natoma Inn staff.
Participants enjoyed the annual "White Elephant Gift Exchange" and steals were many.  Also during the event, the outgoing President's "roasting" was enjoyed by all.   A "special" pillow was given which is to be used in a future pillow fight (inside joke).  A very special glass "boot" was presented filled with gold liquid representing "getting the boot" which caused the crowd to go wild with laughter.  Good memories and comeraderie were enjoyed by all.
Some members were staying the night, and enjoyed the surrounding shops.  An added benefit - Historic Folsom has multiple shops, pubs and entertainment spots for holiday fun after dinner. If the members wanted to dust off your ice skates, the outdoor rink was open near the hotel!
For more details for future visits go to www.VisitFolsom.com or www.historicfolsom.org
Thank you Travis and Mary Ann for organizing such a wonderful evening.  This was a great holiday celebration!

Fort Bragg 2019

Once again, Greg and Cyndee hosted this ride without a hitch. The weather was excellent, and the food was delicious. The group included a couple of MontereyXXII members, Mark and Bob, who had no trouble laughing with the rest of us. Our group had a fun time playing miniature golf one afternoon and attending a dinner where our President, Warren Vandersyde, celebrated his birthday, even if he didn’t know he was going to celebrate with us. The weekend proved to be relaxing and fun with friendly “chit chat” and teasing. Thank you to Greg and Cyndee for a wonderful time!

Museum of the Forgotten Warriors

The chapter’s August after meeting ride was an experience we will not forget. The Museum of the Forgotten Warriors mission is “To Remember, respect and honor veterans so they shall never be forgotten” and indeed this museum was that and so much more.  All the docents are veterans who volunteer their time and give informative tours for their guests.

Skills Class

Thanks to a couple of our extraordinary members, David and Travis, our 2019 “Skills Class” was great practice for any of our members whether a novice or experienced rider. Awesome class!

Mrs. Potato Head and Tator Tot – Spud Run 2019

Last year, Cheryl, one of our members was awarded Mrs. Potato Head during the festivities of the Spud Run 2018 held in Boise, Idaho.  Cheryl, definitely having a great sense of humor, cheerfully presented Mrs. Potato Head with little Tator Tot and a “potato-faced” t-shirt to the new recipient along with a backpack and all the trimmings for the new year.

BK CA1 Spud Run 2019

A bunch of our members traveled to Boise, Idaho this year for the annual Spud Run.  Par for the course, the only time we can see faces is when we are gathered together to dine.  The proverbial saying  “Eat to ride – Ride to Eat” comes to mind.

Tail of the Dragon 2019

U.S. 129 – Deals Gap is a mountain pass along the North Caroline-Tennessee state line, bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This year two of our members experienced the Tail of the Dragon, famous for its 318 curves in 11 miles.

“Big Red” is an honorary guest on some BK rides.  Big Red signifies wonderful memories of members who we have lost and rides we won’t forget.  Shown here are Bob and his “BIG” friend enjoying a group ride.

BK CA1 Valentine’s Celebration 2019

Our very own “love birds” always host a wonderful and memorable Valentine’s Day Celebration.

Tail of the Dragon 2012

After attending the 2012 International Blue Knights convention in Tyler, Texas, Warren Vandersyde and Bob Forsythe headed east through the southern states and getting as far east as No. Carolina where they slew the world famous Tail of the Dragon winding from northwestern N.C. through Tennessee incorporating 318 curves in 11 miles. A word of caution: You may get motion sickness!

Ireland 2013

Warren & Les Vandersyde, Bob & Connie Troutt, John & Angela Ford, Bob & Brenda Forsythe fulfilled a ‘bucket list’ item by travelling to the Emerald Isle in June 2013. There they linked up with the Blue Knights of Ireland I that put together a fantastic guided tour of their beautiful country. It’s almost a 30 minute video so plan on putting aside some time to view it in its entirety – but the scenery and fun times are worth the effort.

Ft. Bragg 2013

Around 30 of us pointed our bikes west to the California coast and the lovely coastal town of Ft. Bragg on September 20, 2013 for a great weekend of food, friends & fun. The weather cooperated pretty well with us except for some intermittent light showers.

WCC/SWC 2012

Ride with the Blue Knights over 11,000+ ft passes in the Colorado Rockies, Aspen groves, red rock walls and canyons of Utah and feel the rush of hugging curves with other riders.
